Hola! My name is Ragan Jorgensen and I’m very excited to be returning to St. Mary School as the Spanish teacher. I started my teaching career in 1997 with the Green Bay Public School District where I taught at Edison Middle School and Howe Elementary School for 11 years. I was blessed with the opportunity to take a few years off to raise my children. It was that family leave that brought me to St. Mary’s. While raising my kiddos, I had the opportunity to teach Spanish at St. Mary’s for 4 years. When both of my children where in school full-time, I returned to Howe Elementary School in Green Bay, but have now found my way back to St. Mary School. I am thankful for the opportunity to start my 20th year of teaching back in Luxemburg.
I grew up in Two Rivers, graduated from St. Norbert College, and now live in the Champion area. My husband, Tim, and I have been married for 13 years and have two daughters. We spend a lot of time camping as a family. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, golfing, and being with friends and family.
I am very excited to share a love of learning with the students at St. Mary School. We are going to have so much fun this year! I will be meeting with each class 4K-6th grade once a week for 30 minutes each Thursday. My class schedule is below:
9:15 - 9:45 AM 4K
9:45 -10:15 AM Kindergarten
10:15 -10:45 AM Grade 6
10:45-11:15 AM Grade 5
11:15-11:45 AM Grade 4
11:30-12:45 PM LUNCH & PLANNING
12:45 - 1:15 PM Grade 3
1:15 - 1:45 PM Grade 2
1:45 - 2:15 PM Grade 1
Students will receive "marks" on their report cards for self directed learning and effort in Spanish class. They will not receive a letter grade. My philosophy is to expose students to the fun of learning another language. My ultimate goal is for students to choose to continue learning Spanish once they have the opportunity to take it as an elective in middle school. We will focus a lot on vocabulary and basic phrases, questions, and responses. Many of these skills will be practiced through speaking & written activities, games, and song in the younger grades.
